Bourne Fire Chief Retires

Chief-GreeneBOURNE – Bourne Fire Chief Martin Greene is retiring after 33 years with the department.

Greene rose through the ranks, beginning as a call firefighter. He said he has felt privileged to work in the department, but it is now time to pursue other interests.

He said he is looking forward to doing more teaching and pursuing other interests and will not miss the long hours of being a full-time fire fighter. He said, colleagues told him he would know when to hang up his helmet.

Greene has been chief for three years. His retirement becomes effective in January.
