Bourne Housing Trust Seeking Home Buyers for Affordable Unit

BOURNE – The Bourne Housing Trust is accepting applications from potential home owners for an affordable housing unit.

The trust is seeking buyers for a three-bedroom, two-bath Cape style home on Wing Road.

The sale price will be $179,500.

Applications are due by April 23 and can be found at the Town Planner’s Office, The Bourne Housing Authority, at the town’s website and the Jonathan Bourne Library.

The maximum income for home buyers range from $47,600 to $78,900 for one up to six people in the household.

Other eligibility requirements include:

• Total household assets are limited to $75,000
• The buyer must provide a down payment of at least 3%, half of which must come from the buyer’s own funds. Other restrictions apply
• Must not have owned a home for the past 3 years – some exceptions apply.
• Properties subject to resale affordability deed restrictions
• Applications must include pre-approval from an institutional lender.
• Application deadline: 4:30 PM April 23, 2018. Applications must be hand delivered or by US Mail to the Town Planner’s Office, Second Floor, Bourne Town Hall, 24 Perry Ave., Bourne MA.
• Preference given to size appropriate households
• Final buyer selection by lottery
• Applicants must complete an approved Home Buyer Education Course before closing.

Information sessions will be held Saturday, March 24 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and Thursday, April 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Jonathan Bourne Library.

If needed, the lottery will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the Bourne Housing Authority on Shore Road.

Open Houses at the site will also be held Wednesday, April 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 7, from 1 to 3 p.m.
