BOURNE – Boune town representatives, regional officials, and members of the public gathered yesterday for the official opening of the newly renovated Buzzards Bay Park.
The park, located along the Cape Cod Canal includes a performance pavilion, children’s play area with a splash pad and a memorial grove.
Bourne Board of Selectmen Chairman Peter Meier was willing to give some credit to others for an effort which he says was entirely his own idea.
“This may have been my idea, but this was an effort by a lot of people, and they should be commended.” he said, ”A lot of people stepped up in various different tasks and I can’t say thank you enough because this is the standard of what we want the town to look like.”
The project began roughly a year ago with residents approving $1.3 million from Community Preservation funds for the effort at last May’s town meeting.
The event featured a DJ and other activities, as well as speeches and dedications.
