Bourne Selectmen Finalizing Timetable for Hiring New Administrator

Bourne Town Hall

BOURNE – Bourne selectmen are working to finalize a timetable for the town’s new administrator search.

The goal is have a new town administrator in place by October 1.

The town will seek to hire a consultant by early July. The consultant will host gather input from town departments and staff through the rest of the month, along with conducting public meetings and discussing the search with the Town Administrator Screening Committee. Recruitment of candidates would also be ongoing.

Candidate interviews would then be conducted through the first few weeks of September.

“If we can keep the process going in a responsible manner throughout this process to make that timeframe so the hire is prior to September 30th, that would be great,” said Judith MacLeod-Froman, the board’s chair.

Current Town Administrator Tome Guerino recently presented the tentative timeline to selectmen after he and the town agreed to part ways. Guerino is seeking employment closer to his family in Vermont. His last day is June 30.

Selectman Jared MacDonald recommended a broader timetable for the consultant.

“All the bullets are very specific and I think if we combined a few of them and made it a little more vague, let them cover all their bases and just give them a final date, we might be able to find a few days here or there,” MacDonald said.
