Bourne Selectmen Start Process to Extend Town Administrator

WALSH PHOTO_Bourne BridgeBOURNE – Selectmen in Bourne are looking to start contract extension negotiations with Town Administrator Thomas Guerino earlier than normal.

Guerino’s current contract expires at the end of June, but Selectmen would like to get it out of the way to focus more time on overrides for a fire station and new school and budget discussions prior to Town Meeting in the spring.

“I’m not looking to change the administrator as much as just to make sure that the duties, responsibilities compensation, etc. reflect whatever is in the best interest of the town and for Tom,” said Bourne Selectman Steven Mealy.

Selectmen will complete a summary comparing Guerino’s last three contracts to see how they may go forward with adjustments or changes.

“I think some of the things that have come under the responsibility of not only our town administrator but of the town administrators and managers throughout the towns in the commonwealth have changed somewhat over the last 10 or 15 years,” Mealy said.

Mealy says Selectmen are looking more into the duties side of the contract as opposed to the compensation.
