Bourne Special Town Meeting Rescheduled After Storm

ThinkstockPhotos-466732416 (1)BOURNE – Special Town Meeting in Bourne originally scheduled for last night has been postponed to February 16th.

When the meeting convenes, voters will be faced with a number of financial decisions following last year’s failed $2.7 million proposition two and a half override.

Selectmen are asking residents to approve additional funding for the school system, the library, and money for more lifeguards.

Voters will consider a $1.1 million proposed single-stream recycling program and $260,000 to replace an ambulance.

The town will also consider a $1.2 million purchase of a 12-acre land south of the Bourne landfill off MacArthur Boulevard.

Community preservation article requests include $350,000 for the restoration of the Civil War Monument at Town Hall and $675,000 for the upgrade of the track at Jackson Field.
