Boys and Girls Club to Open Early for Sandwich Half-days

boys and girls club logoSANDWICH – The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod will open early for all scheduled half-days and late-starts in Sandwich schools this year.

The early openings were made possible from a grant from the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich.

The program is for all students grades 1 through 8 at the Forestdale School, Oak Ridge School and the STEM Academy.

Sandwich schools have eight scheduled half-days during the year and the Boys and Girls Club will continue the program that they have run in the past. Transportation will be provided from the schools to the club when they are dismissed.

There will be five new late-start days in Sandwich schools this year with schools not opening until late morning. On those days the Boys and Girls Club will be open at 7:30 a.m. so parents can drop off their kids, who will be driven to school later in the day.

There is no fee for the program because of the grant, but children using it must become members of the Boys and Girls Club.

Membership is $100 for the entire school year and is open to any Cape Cod child six to 18 year of age.

The club, which is located on the Upper Cape near the Mashpee Rotary at 31 Frank Hicks Drive, is also open early on all Mashpee half-days.
