Brewster Animal Shelter Takes in Piglets After Holliston Fire

BREWSTER – Three piglets who escaped a barn fire in Holliston over the weekend will now be cared for on Cape Cod.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston took in the surviving animals from the fire, which left over 40 animals dead. The piglets will be moved to the organization’s Animal Care and Adoption Center in Brewster.

Animal Rescue League officials say the piglets are doing well, despite showing signs of fear and stress. Six chickens, four ducks, and two rabbits also survived the fire and are being cared for in Dedham.

The organization was called in to assist the Animal Control Officer in Holliston and local first responders after the fire. Staff helped corral the animals that escaped and provided food, water, shelter, and medical checks to the animals.

The piglets will be in Brewster for an undetermined amount of time.
