Brewster Calls for Public Comment on Beach Parking Access

BrewsterBREWSTER – Brewster town officials are seeking public input on a beach access survey, designed to plan ahead as sea levels rise.

The concern is that already-limited beach parking will be underwater in the near future, according to Brewster selectwoman Pat Hughes.

A “coastal adaptation strategy” is in place which Hughes said is analyzing the scientific state of the coast now and where it will be in time.

“The information from this survey is really important because that’s the social part of it: how do people use the beach, how do they want to use it in the future, how they might be willing to get to and from the beach in the future if we are not able to provide parking.”

A working group made up of community representatives developed and are conducting the survey, which takes about 10 minutes to fill out.

The survey is available on the town website, Brewster-ma.gov or directly at beachsurvey.brewster-ma.gov.
