Brewster Community Network to Host Forum This Week on “Bridging the Divide”

BREWSTER – The Brewster Community Network will be holding a forum entitled “Bridging the Divide: How Can We Work Together to Repair Our Democracy?”

The event will take place at the Brewster Ladies Library on June 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The forum will dive into how money in politics has impacted the national landscape, and how Republicans, Democrats, and independents can work together to ensure democracy benefits everyone moving forward.

Joe Paul of Voter Choice MA, Paul Lauenstein of We the People Massachusetts, and Adam Eichen of Equal Citizens will be guest speakers at the event. They will offer insights into voting analysis, potential constitutional amendments, and legal strategies and challenges regarding this topic.

The forum comes after 73% of Brewster residents supported Question 2 on the State ballot last November, which proposed amending the United States Constitution to “limit the influence of money in elections and establish that corporations do not have the same rights as humans.”

State representatives Tim Whelan and Sarah Peake and State Senator Julian Cyr co-sponsored the “We the People” bill in response to Question 2.

Attendees are asked to arrive early. Admission is free.
