Brewster Fire Receives Federal Funding for New Firefighters

brewster fire departmentBREWSTER – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently granted the Brewster Fire Department $284,000 in staffing for the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response funding.

The grant will allow Brewster fire to hire two additional firefighters and/or paramedics.

The amount would pay for their salaries and benefits for two years beginning January of 2017, if Brewster selectmen approve the funding within 30 days of notification.

It is the second grant received by the Brewster Fire Department during the 2015 program period.

Last month, the department received a $370,000 award for new portable and mobile radios.
