BREWSTER – Firefighters were called to the Latham School on Main Street (Route 6A) about 2:30 PM after smoke was reported in one of the buildings. All students were evacuated to a safe area and no injuries were reported. Firefighters discovered some materials left on a stove top had begun burning when the stove was turned on. Crews removed the material and vented smoke.
