Brewster Forum to Discuss ‘In-Law’ Housing Unit Proposal, Marijuana

BREWSTER – The Brewster Community Network will host a forum next week to discuss a proposal being considered that would make it easier for single family homes to create in-law units.

Town Planner Ryan Bennett, Housing Coordinator Jill Scalese and consultant Laura Harbottle will explain the proposal and answer questions July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Brewster Ladies Library.

Zoning and other restrictions have made “second unit” dwellings difficult, but major Accessory Dwelling Unit by-law revisions are being drafted before Town Meeting in November.

Some believe the “second units” are a solution for affordable housing needs, and can provide seniors extra income to stay in their homes.

An update will also be given on progress of marijuana growers and retailers.
