Brewster Residents Reject Pot Shop Ban; Moratorium

BREWSTER – Brewster town meeting voters bucked the trend last night of other Cape Cod towns and rejected an attempt to ban recreational marijuana stores from opening.

They also shot down another article that would have imposed a moratorium on pot shops until the end of 2018.

While the article banning the stores failed outright, the moratorium won a majority of voters, but not the two-thirds needed for passage.

In other action, Brewster voters changed the name of their Board of Selectmen to “Select Board” in a move aimed at being gender-neutral.
