Broadway Comes to Martha’s Vineyard

MARTHA’S VINEYARD – A major Broadway production is coming to Martha’s Vineyard this summer with several TV and movie stars who are now starring on Broadway.

The Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center will host the concert series, which starts on Saturday with Vanessa Williams and Megan Hilty on July 16.

Other dates include Kristin Chenoweth on August 14 and Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman on August 29.

Producer Mark Cortale said that they couldn’t have picked a better venue and location for the concert series.

“It’s such a beautiful part of the country and to be able to reach out to these artists and say hey would you like to come and do your show on Martha’s Vineyard, it was a very easy yes for all of them,” said Cortale.

The Broadway at the Art House concert series started in Provincetown in 2011 and has since grew to other locations from Los Angeles to London, England.

Hilty, who’s known for her portrayal of Ivy Lynn in NBC’s musical drama “Smash” said she is excited for the opportunity to perform and see the Vineyard for the first time.

“I had this booked a long time ago and I just recently got a TV pilot that films out in Los Angeles and I built it into my contract that I had to come back to Martha’s Vineyard because I can’t miss out on this concert or coming to the Vineyard to see it for the first time,” said Hilty.
