WASHINGTON – In observance of the death of former President Gorge H.W. Bush, several governmental and financial agencies will be closed today. The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will be shuttered for the day.
All federal offices will be closed today, some banks and courts will be closed as well. The Federal Reserve Bank will process payments normally and closures will vary by area. The Supreme Court has postponed arguments for the day.
The House has cancelled all votes for the week and the Senate has postponed votes until after today’s funeral. Bush’s public invitation only funeral is scheduled for this morning at the National Cathedral after his body is moved from the U.S. Capitol where it has been lying in state since Monday. The transport is scheduled for ten this morning.
After the funeral the former president will be taken by Air Force One to Houston for a private funeral service followed by interment at the Bush Presidential Library.
