PROVINCETOWN – Carnival is underway in Provincetown, bringing an influx of visitors to town.

“People make these reservations to come here probably years in advance, or a year in advance anyway. It brings a big huge influx of cash to the town, to the businesses, retail, restaurants, and guest houses,” said Provincetown Business Guild Executive Director Erin Atwood.

Atwood said he expects about ninety to one-hundred thousand visitors to come to town this week.

He advises anybody coming for Thursday’s parade to arrive well in advance, as parking is a significant challenge.

The parade kicks off at 3 PM, the two and a half mile route gets underway at the beginning of Commercial Street and ends at Franklin Street across from the Coast Guard station.

This year’s theme is Comic Book Capers.
