Buzzards Bay Coalition Hosting Heated Boat Tours to Search for Seals and Seabirds

FALMOUTH – The Buzzards Bay Coalition is inviting Cape Codders to search for seals and wintering seabirds during a series of boat tours around Woods Hole this winter.

Join the Coalition at Patriot Boats, located at 110 Scranton Avenue in Falmouth, to kick off the winter cruise series on Saturday, January 26 from 10:00 a.m. through 11:30 a.m.

Cape Cod and Buzzards Bay are important stopover locations for overwintering marine wildlife. Participants will be able to photograph and observe unusual northern birds alongside gray, harbor, and harp seals that have ventured south from cold northern latitudes.

Participants have the option of viewing from out in the fresh air or in a comfortable heated indoor space.

The next cruise will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on February 2. Please visit the Coalition’s events website for more details and additional dates in February and March.

Tickets are $20 for Buzzards Bay Coalition members, with nonmembers paying $30. Children children ages 12 and under pay just $15, and children aged three and under are required no charge.

The event is part of Discover Buzzards Bay, an initiative to help people across the Buzzards Bay region find unique and exciting ways to explore the outdoors, get some exercise and connect with nature.

Local residents can use Discover Buzzards Bay to get outside and discover woods, wetlands and waterways from Fall River to Falmouth. To learn more, visit savebuzzardsbay.org/discover. Discover Buzzards Bay is sponsored by Southcoast Health.

Advance registration is required. Visit the coalition’s website to register and for more information.
