NEW BEDFORD – The Buzzards Bay Coalition was awarded a $125,000 grant from the Baker Administration through the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund.
The funds will be used to rehabilitate the historic 1890 Bathhouse on Onset Beach and to revitalize coastal Wareham through environmental education programs.
A total of $9.3 million was awarded by Governor Charlie Baker through the fund in 61 capital grants and 18 planning grants.
“Massachusetts and its communities share a rich history and diverse culture that benefit residents and attract visitors from around the nation and the world,” Baker said. “These investments in our communities strengthen local landmarks, drive growth in tourism, jobs and our economy across the commonwealth.”
The fund has awarded over $100 million in cultural sector grants since it was established ten years ago.
The Baker-Polito Administration added $10 million in funding in its Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Budget Plan.
