BOURNE – Bourne Police have arrested an 18-year-old Buzzards Bay man in connection with the alleged attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl on November 10.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Puritan Rd for a report of a past assault and battery.
Police said the girl was walking along Puritan Rd towards her bus stop when she was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground by male unknown to the victim.
Based on the investigation by the Bourne Police Detective Division, John F. Allen of Puritan Road was determined to be the suspect involved in the incident. A clerk magistrate in Falmouth District Court found probable cause to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect.
Allen was taken into custody at the Bourne Police Station Thursday afternoon, and is currently awaiting bail to be set. He will be held until his bail is posted, or his arraignment, which is scheduled to be on Friday, November 18 at the Falmouth District Court.
Allen is charged with attempted aggravated kidnapping, felony strangulation and felony assault and battery.
Police said that as the investigation is still on-going, further details and statements regarding the investigation will not be released at this time.
A statement from the department said there is no indication that other children were or are at risk in the Town of Bourne.
