Buzzards Bay Park Renovations to be Completed By Spring

BOURNE – Bourne’s town administrator said he is pleased with the progress being made on the renovation of Buzzards Bay Park.

Tom Guerino recently provided an update to selectmen on the project and says tangible progress will be seen throughout the fall and that the park should be completed by April.

“Things are moving well. We are in budget,” Guerino said. “You can see the contingency still remains at about $80,000 plus or minus.”

Guerino said the $80,000 is about 15 percent of the contingency funds available when the project began.

“We don’t expect a lot of change orders but this does give us a little bit of wiggle room,” Guerino said.

The park will include a performance pavilion, children’s play area with a splash pad and a memorial grove.

A contract for landscaping work for phase two of the renovations is being reviewing by an attorney.

Voters approved $1 million in Community Preservation funds for the second phase.

A bid was also accepted for the construction of the pavilion and it will be at least a few months before materials arrive.
