Buzzards Bay Park To Open By Memorial Day

BUZZARDS BAY – Bourne Town Administrator Thomas Guerino has assured members of the Board of Selectmen that the renovated Buzzards Bay Park will be ready for its grand reopening on Memorial Day.

He pointed out, that when it comes to safety, there are activities that many people don’t consider.

“Recreation is not just recreation, it’s also shell fishing and all those other types of things,” he said.

He said sections of the new performance pavilion have been delivered, trees have been planted and much of the playground equipment has been installed.  There is one part of the project which may cost more than expected.

“The Sagamore beach access stairway, is out to bid.  Since we have to go from up above I’m not sure what the bids are going to be,” said Guerino.

Residents at May’s town meeting approved $1.3 million in two funding articles.  The money will come from Community Preservation funds.
