Immigration Resource Center in Hyannis Holds Grand Opening

immigrationHYANNIS – The grand opening of the Immigration Resource Center in Hyannis was held on Wednesday.

The new center, is a program of the Community Action Committee of the Cape and Islands (CACCI) and will serve the needs of the immigrant communities.

The program provides free assistance to residents with questions relating to immigration law, obtaining American citizenship, applying for or renewing green cards and adjusting immigration status.

“What we do is serve the neediest who may not have access to those services,” said Collin Mickle, Coordinator of the Immigration Resource Center. “We identified a real need for someone who may not be able to pay four or five figures, to get legal counsel related to immigration.”

The staff includes an attorney and multilingual translators.

Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Paul Niedzwiecki, who also served as former Vice Chairman of the CACCI Board, was honored with the CACCI Hero Award.

The CACCI is a private not for profit agency dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals living on the Cape and islands.

“Our center provides free immigration legal services to any resident of Cape Cod and the Islands,” said Mickle. “We’ve identified a real demand for those services and we’re happy to serve the community with them.”

The center is located on North Street in Hyannis and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
