COTUIT – An exhibit featuring intricate and inspired artwork produced in the form of cut paper will be on display this fall in Cotuit.
The Cahoon Museum of American Art presents “Contemporary Silhouettes: the Art of Cut Paper” from October 11 through December 23.
Curated by the museum’s director Sarah Johnson, the exhibit showcases many global folk traditions, including Scherenschnitte, jianzhi and American portrait silhouettes, through innovative handcrafted pieces.
The exhibit includes nationally known artists, along with contemporary and historic artists from Cape Cod.
A free public reception with the artists is Saturday, October 14 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The museum on Route 28 is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission is $10, $8 for students and seniors and free for museum members and children under 12.
