Cahoon Museum to Open Pastel Exhibit

COTUIT – The Cahooon Museum of American Art in Cotuit will open a new exhibit to the public beginning this week.

The exhibit will feature a survey of contemporary pastel paintings from eighteen artists who draw inspiration from Cape Cod.

The artists represented in “Contemporary Pastel: Cape Cod Landscapes” capture snapshots of the varied landscapes across the region using a range of techniques from realism to abstraction.

The exhibition opens to the public on Wednesday, August 17 and continues through October 2.

A reception will be held on Friday, August 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the museum located on Route 28 in Cotuit.

The artists featured in the exhibit are Edith Cohenno Bryant, Margaret Farrell Bruno, Susan Carey, Eileen Casey, Ed Chesnovitch, Betsy Payne Cook, Cynthia Crimmin, Kathy Edmonston, Carole Chisholm Garvey, Susan Hollis, David Kelley, Alison McMurray, Rosalie Nadeau, Donna Rosetti-Bailey, Susan Sigel, Jeanne Rosier Smith, Barbara Stone and Linda Young.

The Cahoon Museum is home to a collection of American art with a special focus on regional art of the Northeast and Cape Cod.

The museum highlights selections from its permanent collection of art from the early 19th century to the present as well as multiple changing exhibitions each year.

It is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. General Admission is $10, $8 for seniors and students and free for museum members and children under 12.
