Canal Chamber Plans ‘Cape Cod Canal Day’ to Celebrate Buzzards Bay

BUZZARDS BAY – The Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce is planning an event to celebrate the recently completed renovation of Buzzards Bay Park.

“Cape Cod Canal Day” is set for Saturday at the park on Main Street in Buzzards Bay and aims to create economic activity in the village during the shoulder season.

The park renovation was completed earlier this year and town and local officials have expressed optimism that the new space along the Cape Cod Canal could play a role in the revitalization of the village, which has seen a decrease in economic activity in recent decades with the construction of the Main Street bypass and Route 25.

“We hope to have a few thousand people there. Think about a few thousand people coming in to Buzzards Bay, they will go to different businesses, whether they stop for a particular business or even if they stop for gas, it still creates economic development no matter what they do,” said Marie Oliva, the President and CEO of the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce.

The new family-friendly event will feature local food truck, craft beer and wine, arts and crafts vendors, a cornhole tournament, live entertainment, and children’s activities.

There is no admission cost.

Vendors interested in participating can contact the Cape Cod Canal Regional Chamber of Commerce at 508-759-6000 extension 11 or online at www. capecodcanalchamber.org
