Canal View Apartment Staff Help Residents After Last Week’s Fire

fireBOURNE – Officials with Canal View Apartments in Bourne have said that they will refund security deposits and last month’s rent after a fire tore through the building last week.

In addition to the refunds, staff have also set up a GoFundMe account with a goal of raising $25,000 to be distributed to residents to help ease their financial burden.

The fire on October 10 affected units 1-10 but no injuries were reported.

The apartment’s insurance company was also able to help with additional funding for residents to help cover the costs of temporary lodging and cover the costs of meals.

The Bourne Fire Department is continuing to investigate the fire and reconstruction on the apartment is expected to start soon.
