Candidate Forum Friday in Hyannis

HYANNIS -The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum and Cape Cod Young Professionals are teaming up to host a forum in Hyannis tomorrow morning for candidates running for office in this fall’s elections.

The event will take place at Barnstable High school beginning at 8:45 Friday morning, a keynote address will be given by U.S. Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, about 200 students from the Cape and Islands are expected to attend.

The address will be followed by a breakout session organized by voter districts, giving students a chance to hear from and question the state legislator who represents that district. The students will then reconvene to hear from the candidates running for the State Senate this election cycle.

“This is an outstanding educational opportunity to enhance a deeper understanding of the integral role individual civic engagement plays in the election process,” said John Allen, JFK Hyannis Museum Executive Director.

“We want to create an opportunity for our young people on the cusp of voting for the first time to get excited about the upcoming election while providing a way for them to increase their understanding on issues that are important to them.”
