‘Cannabiz 2019’ Coming to Hyannis Next Month

HYANNIS – The monthly magazine, Cape & Plymouth Business, will be hosting Cannabiz 2019 next month.

“Cannabiz 2019: The Journey Continues,” is an event bringing together numerous cannabis industry experts who conduct breakout sessions to address both the facts and myths about the cannabis industry. The speakers will also discuss business opportunities surrounding cannabis in the Commonwealth.

“I think that it doesn’t matter if you voted for it, didn’t vote for it, smoke, don’t smoke. It’s here and it’s impacting the business community. I own an business magazine, so I think it behooves us to educate businesses on what’s happening,” Organizer Robert Viamari said.

Cannabis Control Commission Chairman Steven J. Hoffman will deliver the opening keynote address while closing keynote remarks will be presented by Adam Fine of Vicente Sederberg, Verdant Medical CEO Tito Jackson, and CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce Wendy Northcross.

The event will feature nine 45-minute breakout sessions covering a wide variety of topics, including the unique tax issues affecting businesses within the cannabis industry, the benefits of Cannabidiol (CBP) products for mind and body care and what municipalities need to know in order to make proper decisions for their community.

Mashpee Selectman Andrew Gottlieb and Orleans Selectman Alan McClennen are among the breakout session panelists slated to appear at the event. Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse is also expected to speak.

“We’re going to have a panel discussion on marijuana in the workforce. That impacts everybody, every business. We’re going to bring down an attorney that represents a cannabis business, that represents and employees. That’s just one example,” added Viamari.

“Cannabiz 2019” will be held on Wednesday, May 22 from 1:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa, located at 1225 lyannough Road in Hyannis.

Presenting sponsors for “Cannabiz 2019” are Acella Construction Corporation and Vincent Sederberg LLC. Elevate Northeast and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce are lead sponsors of the event.
