Cape Abilities Holds Grand Opening for Relocated Store in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH – Cape Abilities held a Grand Opening for its relocated thrift shop on Wednesday.

The shop is now located at the Bass Outlet Mall on Route 28 in West Yarmouth and officially opened on November 1.

“We had a smaller store in Barnstable Village, we had so many people who were willing to give us donations to support our business and then also so many customers that we really needed to have a larger space,” said Cape Abilities President Rosalie Edes.

Members of Cape Abilities are employed at the store, which supports vocational skills training.

The thrift shop specializes in the re-sale of donated home décor and antique collections.

The shop also sells refinished furniture that is worked on by participants in the Cape Abilities Furniture Rescue and Restoration program.

“We like to provide an array of items for people, some small gift items, some of which we produce ourselves,” said Edes. “In addition, furniture and small furnishings for the home like dishes and gift items, so I think it’s going to be a great draw for a lot of different people,” said Edes.
