PARIS -Cape Air is set to purchase over ten electrically powered aircraft from an Israeli start-up company, according to CNBC. The plane, manufactured by Eviation, was debuted at the Paris Air Show this week.

The $4 million planes are capable of travelling up to 650 miles at about 270 miles per hour, a traditional jet would fly at about 500 mph. The aircraft are powered by three electric motors with a combined 900 kilowatts of power.

Representatives of Eviation say they expect to receive certification in 2021 with deliveries in 2022. Before certification the 9 seat planes are scheduled to be sent to Arizona for flight testing.

Eviation officials say they believe the market for regional flights of around 500 miles is underserved in the United States.
