Cape and Islands Boy Scouts Honor Volunteers At Annual Event

scout01SOUTH DENNIS – Cape Cod & Islands Boy Scouts will honor the service of its adult volunteers at an awards ceremony this afternoon.

Volunteers will be honored for the countless hours provided to scouting programs for nearly 1,600 young people across the Cape & Islands.

The annual awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the Nathaniel Wixon Innovative School in South Dennis.

Casey Sherman, a Cape Cod native and New York Times Bestselling author of The Finest Hours will serve as guest speaker at the event.

“Each one of these volunteers is being recognized for their leadership and dedication to scouting values and to the young people living here on the Cape & Islands,” said Michael R. Riley, Scout Executive. Cape & Islands Council #224 Boy Scouts of America. “These volunteers are providing both a positive influence and a foundation for future success for all of the scouts we serve.”

The 564 registered volunteers for the Cape & Islands Council are supported by hundreds of other adults who serve informally on short term scouting projects.
