Cape and Islands Rowing Association Hosts Open House

Row - 4HARWICH – Cape and Islands Rowing Association will host an informational Open House for its summer Learn to Row programs on May 8 from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.

It will be held in Harwich in conjunction with Cape Cod Youth Rowing’s first Home Regatta.

Crews from Row Boston and Worcester Public Schools will also be competing.

Cape Cod Youth Rowing is a combination of the Nauset Tech and Cape Cod Rowing youth programs, which are expanding to include Cape-wide girls and boys ages 12-18.

It is the only youth rowing program on Cape Cod and is sponsored by the Cape & Islands Rowing Association.

Its Learn to Row programs are aimed at youth ages 12-18 and adults.

The Rowing Association supports the rowing community on Cape Cod and the Islands and was established in 2015 as a non-profit with the purpose of providing a central resource for the various rowing organizations on the Cape and Islands.

Its goal is to foster the growth of rowing, from Learn-To-Row and Recreational rowing to competitive Youth and Masters programs.

The Rowing Association is an “umbrella” organization for other clubs, significantly reducing their annual liability insurance costs.

The Association’s missing is to promote and expand opportunities for youth and adults to row on Cape Cod and the Islands through various recreational and competitive rowing programs and to oversee a centralized facility that will support the needs of these programs.
