BARNSTABLE – Sixteen eighth grade students from State Senator Julian Cyr’s district have been chosen to represent the Cape and Islands as youth leaders for Project 351.
The nonprofit youth service organization includes a representative from each city and town in the state for a year of leadership development through service and training opportunities.
The eighth grade students participating from the Cape and Islands State Senate District include Michelle Millan (Provincetown), Nathaniel Prickett (Truro), Grace Santos (Truro), Lucy Crosen (Wellfleet), Benjamin LeBranche (Eastham), Rebekah Roth (Orleans), Cambria Parrot (Brewster), Isabelle Coughlin (Chatham), Aidan Melton (Harwich), John Depin (South Dennis), Leah Calle (West Yarmouth), Daniel Silva (Hyannis), Conor Baron (Mashpee), Maria Eduarda Uhry (Oak Bluffs), Nathaniel Porterfield (Vineyard Haven) and Shanell Whyte (Nantucket).
The students are chosen by hometown educators for an exemplary ethic of service and the values of kindness, compassion, humility and gratitude.
Project 351 ambassadors participate in three service campaigns throughout the year, including Spring Service in support of Cradles and Crayons, September 11 Tribute Service in support of the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and Fall Service, which supports hundreds of food pantries.
