HYANNIS – The Cape and Islands United Way has awarded $400,000 in community impact grants to numerous local nonprofits throughout the region.
“We feel we have selected grants that make a lasting impact in the community on both Cape Cod and the Islands, and we have a fairly robust application process,” said Acting Director Beth Bowman.
In our four focus areas, we look closely at operations that focus on education, financial stability, basic needs, housing/health, and then those for the Vineyard, [after reviewing all facets,] we have selected a range of organizations to support,” said Bowman.
Recognition for these organizations and programs was made public at C&I United’s annual grant reception at the Cape Cod Museum of Art last month.
“This July is when folks will begin to receive the actual grant funding and we hope to announce what our next round of grants looks like, and the requirements for them, in the fall,” said Bowman.
The Cape and Islands United Way serves as an independent organization striving to improve lives and strengthen communities on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
