Unique Wizard of Oz Performance Planned With Cape Symphony

HYANNIS – A rare and unique presentation of “The Wizard of Oz” comes to the Barnstable Performing Arts Center next month.

The Cape Symphony is partnering with Cotuit Center for the Arts for a different take on the original film score where actors and orchestra share the stage.

“The Wizard of Oz in Concert” is Saturday, February 9 at 3 and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 10 at 3 p.m.

The performance is inspired by a 1995 presentation of “The Wizard of Oz in Concert” which featured Jewel as Dorothy, Jackson Browne as the Scarecrow, Roger Daltrey as the Tin Man and Nathan Lane as the Cowardly Lion.

The show will feature the familiar songs “Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” and “If I Only Had a Brain,” and take the audience down the Yellow Brick Road for a musical adventure.

Cape Symphony Artistic Director and Conductor Jung-Ho Pak says the concert is an immersive experience that will pick you up and carry you away to the Emerald City.

To purchase tickets, which are half-priced for students ages 6 through 22, visit capesymphony.org or call 508-362-1111.
