BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod Art Association (CCAA) is hosting “Mastering Your Mark 2016”, an art conference for all media at the Hyannis Resort and Conference Center on September 24.

Open to artists of all levels, the conference features renowned artist Joe McGurl and 25 of the region’s best artists conducting seminars, demonstrations, panel discussions and hands-on activities covering technique, the creative process, the business of art and more.

In addition to teaching, McGurl, a signature member of Plein Art Painters of America, will deliver the keynote address.

It’s the first event of its kind on the Cape in recent memory and according to the Association, is generating a lot of excitement in the art community.

Association officials also said that the event is an opportunity for emerging and established artists to come together to learn, find inspiration and network.

In addition to the Saturday programs, CCAA will host optional post-conference events on Sunday the 25th, including bus tours of the area for taking reference photographs and two all day workshops with Vera Champlin and Jonathan McPhillips.

Registration starts at $95 and can be completed online at capecodartassoc.org.

The Cape Cod Art Association is located on Route 6A in Barnstable and the gallery and gift shop are open seven days a week.
