Cape Cod Baseball League Celebrates America’s Pastime Friday

HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Baseball League will celebrate its 4th Annual Cape Cod Baseball Day Friday at the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis.

Cape League players will be on hand to sign free autographs and take pictures with fans.

The Barnstable Bat Company, based in Centerville, will be conducting demonstrations on how they make wooden bats. A sampling of ball park food will also be available.

The Cape League is considered one of the premier collegiate baseball leagues in the country. Dozens of current major leaguers played on Cape Cod at some point.

Former Boston Red Sox players who played in the Cape League include Mo Vaughn, Nomar Garciaparra and Jason Varitek.

Current Red Sox players with Cape League experience include Matt Barnes, Brandon Workman, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ryan Hanigan

Cape Cod Baseball Day runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis.
