Cape Cod Bird Club to Kick Off 2018 with Meeting, Walks

BREWSTER – The New Year is approaching fast and the Cape Cod Bird Club has a busy month to kick off 2018.

The organization’s monthly meeting is Monday, January 8 at 7 p.m. at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History on Route 6A in Brewster.

Mark Faherty will be the guest speaker. He has been the Science Coordinator at Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary since 2007 and has led birding trips for Mass Audubon since 2002.

His talk is “Peru: Amazon to Andes.”

The organization also will host a series of free walks throughout January.

A New Year’s Day walk with Ed Banks will be held from noon to 4 p.m. from Patriot Square in South Dennis.

Stephanie Paventy will lead “Birding a Winter Wonderland” through Falmouth on Saturady, January 6 at 7 a.m.

A “Pier to Pier Sweep” from Wellfleet to Provincetown will be led by Ginie Page on Monday, January 8 at 9 a.m.

The final walk of the month is January 27 at 8 a.m. as participants will meet at Corporation Beach before a carpool to Scargo Lake, Slough Pond and Walkers Pond.
