Cape Cod Cares For The Troops Christmas Care Package Party Moves to Hyannis

Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops Filled Over 1,500 Care Packages For Overseas Troops This Weekend

HYANNIS – Cape Cod Cares for the Troops will hold their 10th Annual Christmas Care Package party in Hyannis on Saturday.

The group will gather at a new location at the former Sports Authority in the Kmart Plaza in Hyannis from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It formerly took place in Bourne.

1,500 Christmas Care packages will be assembled and mailed to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

People can help by collecting supplies for the care packages, make a monetary donation to help with the cost of shipping, or volunteer that weekend to help pack care packages.

Cape Cod Cares for the Troops was started eleven years ago by then 12-year-old Dylan DeSilva.

His vision was to send weekly care packages to our troops. Since then, Dylan has sent over 25,000 care packages to our troops.

The cost of supplies and shipping these packages exceeds $25,000 dollars and the goal has not been met as of yet.
