Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops Fills Care Packages For Overseas Troops 

HARWICH – Cape Cod Cares for our Troops is holding a fundraising canal run to raise money for the Christmas Care Packages the organization sends to troops overseas and here at home during the holidays.

The run is scheduled for Saturday, October 6th beginning at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area and will honor SSGT Stephen Sprague of Yarmouth. Sprague was a Combat Medic who served overseas prior to losing a battle with cancer in February.

There will be 5k and 10k timed runs, registration begins at 8:30 with the race starting at 10, walkers are welcome as well.

Cost to participate is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 day of the race, registration is available online at www.canalrunforthetroops.com. T-Shirts will be given to the first 150 runners registered.

The money raised will pay for postage for the 1,200 packages the group hopes to send out this year. Cape Cod Cares for our Troops was begun by then 12 year old Dylan DeSilva in 2005, it is a registered non- profit.
