Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra to Make Debut Performance Next Month

HARWICH PORT – The new Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra will make its debut performance next month with a convergence of music and poetry.

The concert is Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the orchestra is collaborating with the Cape Cod Writers Center to create an afternoon of poetry-inspired music led by conductor Matthew Scinto.

Cape Cod poet Judith Askew’s “Here at the Edge of the Sea” will be set to music by Boston composer-conductor Francis Snyder.

Poetry authored by students at Monomoy Regional High School will be displayed in the church sanctuary.

The debut performance will also feature compositions by Debussy, Elgar and Grieg, and mezzo-soprano Zaray Rodriguez will perform Gustav Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer.”

Tickets are $25 purchased in advance and $30 at the door. Student admission is $15 and children under 12 are free.
