BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod Commission collected traffic data around the Mashpee Rotary throughout the summer and is now conducting analysis for its transportation study of the area.
The commission will use the information to identify safe alternatives for roadways in the area for bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists.
The commission is under contract from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to conduct the study.
The area consists of the Mashpee Rotary and its approaching roadways, including Route 28, Route 151, Great Neck Road North and Great Neck Road South.
The rotary was identified by the Cape Cod Metropolitan Organization as a priority area due to congestion and safety concerns. The area has also been identified as a high crash location.
An outreach and engagement initiative is also being developed and will begin with public meetings to gather input from the community.
