BARNSTABLE – The towns of Mashpee, Barnstable and Yarmouth are launching a new online tool making it easier to analyze local permitting and zoning.
In partnership with the Cape Cod Commission’s Strategic Information Office, the zoning portals were developed translating each towns’ zoning laws to provide user-friendly interfaces that allow users to explore how land policies affect specific parcels.
The Commission contracted with OpenCounter, a San Francisco-based firm, for the pilot program.
The portals include all zoning districts and special overlay areas.
“This technology helps entrepreneurs find appropriate locations and supports towns in facilitating initial inquiries,” said Kristy Senatori, the Commission’s executive director.
The Barnstable and Mashpee portals are live now with a Yarmouth launch expected shortly.
