WEST BARNSTABLE – More than 60 New England school officials, community leaders, and public safety professionals will be in West Barnstable today and tomorrow to participate in an ALICE Training Program.
ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate, is a knowledge and skill based training program for response to violent critical incidents such as active shooter, violent intruder, mass shooting, terrorism, and workplace violence.
The program is being hosted by Cape Cod Community College’s Department of Public safety and will run from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day. The event also included a kick-off “Meet and Greet” program at the start of this morning’s session.
“Obviously, with what’s in the news and with what’s going on around the country and what’s happening on a daily basis, it is critically important that this type of training be available,” said CCCC Spokesman Patrick Stone, “Not just to law enforcement but to the people who are doing the work on campuses every day.”
This year’s attendees include Barnstable High Principal Patrick Clark, Barnstable County Special Sheriff Jeff Perry, and Falmouth Principal Mary Gans.
