Cape Cod Council of Churches Names Interim Executive Director

ThinkstockPhotos-92573261HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Council of Churches has named a new interim executive director.

Edythe Neismith of East Sandwich will take the reins of the organization on Wednesday and will run the day-to-day operations of all the council’s ministries and homeless ministries.

The council runs A Baby Center, Bridge to Hope, Chaplains at Cape Cod Hospital and Spaulding Rehab, Covenant to Care for Foster Families, and Hands of Hope Outreach Center. They also operate the following homeless ministries: Hospitality Housing, Street Outreach Project, HM Volunteer Coordination, and Youth Street Reach.

Neismith and her family live in East Sandwich where she has been an initiator of educational programs for children and youth. Educated at Yale and Smith, she has a BA in Religious Studies and a M.S.W. Her Masters from Smith is in Clinical Social Work.

Neismith will have an “open door” policy at the Council’s offices in the Federated Church on Main Street in Hyannis and welcomes visits from clergy, community partners and friends of the Council.
