ORLEANS – More than 5,000 items were collected last month at Cape Cod Five Banking Centers for troops overseas.

The donations by employees and customers were included in the 1,100 holiday care packages sent by Cape Cod Cares for the Troops.

Items included messages of appreciation, blank cards for troops to send home, toiletries, candy and snacks, playing cards, socks, magazines, journals, facial tissue, lip balm, small toys to give to children and much more.

“Our servicemen and servicewomen are dedicated to protecting our country and our freedoms and we greatly appreciate their sacrifices,” said Dorothy Savarese, President and CEO of Cape Cod Five.

“We hope these care packages will be a reminder of our enduring support and will help make their holiday season a little brighter.”
