Cape Cod Five Donates $8,000 to Support Educational Student Field Trips

KA_Wellfleet_Cape Five Bank 5_102915ORLEANS – The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank is donating $8,000 through its foundation to fund the cost of educational student field trips for students on the Cape and Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts.

The donation was made to the Massachusetts Cultural Council to fund the cost of transportation to non-profit cultural institutions, such as art and science museums for students in grades K-12.

“We recognize that the creative learning occurring at cultural institutions is critical to the academic development of children,” said Cape Cod Five President and CEO Dorothy Savarese. “Trips to museums, live theater, and musical performances serve to enliven curriculum and enhance student engagement.”

The donation from Cape Cod Five’s Foundation will support the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Big Yellow School Bus program, part of its Creative Youth Initiative.

Through the program, schools apply for small grants of $200 each to cover transportation costs for student trips to cultural institutions.

Transportation for 40 educational field trips will be funded by Cape Cod Five’s sponsorship.
