BARNSTABLE – Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC) will literally drive their blood drives across the Cape this month, in an effort to alleviate what they’ve called a “constant challenge” to maintain sufficient supply.
Most of June’s blood drives will be held in the new CCHC Blood Mobile in various parking lots and locations throughout the area.
CCHC said the hospitals must keep each unit of blood no longer than 35 to 42 days before it expires, creating a constant need for blood supply.
The health group said the units stay on Cape Cod.
Each donor during the month of June will either receive a movie pass to Regal Cinema, a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card or a travel mug, depending on the location.
While walk-ins will be welcomed, appointments can be made at www.capecodhealth.org/giveblood.
A full schedule of drives can also be found there.
