HYANNIS – Cape Cod Healthcare is reaching out to the public in the hopes of finding those with Type O Negative blood.
Currently, Cape Cod Healthcare has only a one-day supply of the blood type on hand.
Hospital officials say that O Negative donors are “universal” donors, and their blood can be transfused to any patient in need.
Cape Cod Healthcare’s next community blood drive is on July 2 at the Stoneman Medical Center at 2 Jan Sebastian Way in Sandwich from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Donor Center at Cape Cod Hospital is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call Cape Cod Healthcare at 508-86-BLOOD (508-862-5663) or visit www.capecodhealth.org/giveblood.
